Optimus Black vs Galaxy SL i9003 Comparison

Samsung has been quiet successful with its Galaxy series phones in India and LG is consistently improving on its Android based Optimus smartphones series in India. The mobile comparison between the two is getting stiff on the Android front and both are trying hard to keep up with the market demands. Two very evenly matched Android OS based smartphones from these two manufacturers are LG Optimus Black and  Samsung Galaxy S LCD I9003. We have compared the important features of these smartphones to find out which one has an advantage over the other.

Design and Size:
Both phones have an elegant design with nice finish on the exterior and fits nicely in the hands. Optimus Black is extremely sleek being only 9.2mm thick and weighing 109g. Galaxy S on the other hand is not so slim and also heavier, it weighs 131g and 10.6mm thick.

Display:
Optimus Black features the latest IPS capacitive touchscreen LCD with 16M color support and resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Galaxy S has the SC (Super Clear) LCD capacitive touchscreen with same color and resolution support as Optimus Black. Both the display’s are better than the other LCD panels around but nothing much to choose between the two.

Processor and OS:
Both the smart phones feature the same 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor powered by PowerVR GPU on TI OMAP chipset. OS in both phones is Android 2.2, but Optimus Black enables it to be upgraded to the latest Android 2.3 unlike Galaxy S.

Camera:
On the camera front again both the smart phones are having the features that are very much the same. They feature 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash and a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. HD 720p video recording at 30fps is supported in both the devices. Optimus Black again takes a slight edge having a 2MP secondary camera compared to a VGA camera in Galaxy S.

Storage Capacity:
Optimus Black has 1GB of internal storage with 512MB of RAM, Galaxy S on the other hand provides a huge 16GB on internal storage capacity with 478MB of RAM. The external storage can be up to 32GB via micro sd memory card.

Conclusion:
Optimus Black has a slight edge over Galaxy S when it comes to upgrading the OS and having a lighter design and with both smart phones pricing around RS 19900 Optimus Black may just be able to turn the tables completely in its favor.
