Xperia Arc vs Galaxy S2 Comparison

In the era of slim, light, stylish, thin and yet powerful smartphones, manufacturers are trying to take the lead by producing feature packed smartphones in India that meet all these standards. The phones are getting slimmer and more powerful every day. The latest addition to this category is Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and Samsung Galaxy SII. Arc which is an addition to the already renowned Xperia series got a number of fans in quick time but the real competition began with the release of Samsung Galaxy SII. We have compared these two very impressive smart phones here to find out which one is going to get the top spot.

Design
The best part of design of both the smart phone is their light weight and slim body. Arc weighs 117g and only 8.7mm thick. Galaxy SII is even lighter and thinner, weighing a gram less and only 8.5mm thick. Galaxy S II has more of serious look with its solid black color all around, angular design and sharp lines. Arc is more on the stylish side with curved edges and silver bodywork.

Display:
Galaxy SII features a huge 4.3 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen with resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and 16M color support. The screen uses a Gorilla Glass display which is resistant to scratches and cracks. Arc uses the 4.2 inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touch screen with 480 x 854 and 16M color support. The screen also has a scratch resistant feature. Both the display types have advantages that are common. So, the result is a draw.

Processor And OS:
This is the battle front which very much decides which smart phone is going to out power the other and Samsung galaxy SII clearly comes on top with a 1.2Ghz Exynos dual core processor and Mali-400MP GPU . Sony Ericsson opted for single core 1Ghz Qualcomm Scorpion processor with Adreno 205 GPU. Both the smart phones run on the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

Camera:
Both smart phones have 8MP 3264x2448 pixels, autofocus camera with LED flash but SII has a slight advantage when it comes to recording HD video as it supports HD 1080p@30fps compared to 720p@30fps recording in Arc. The lack any secondary camera in Arc and 2.0MP front on camera in SII confirms its superiority.

Internal Storage:
Sony Ericsson Arc really lacks behind on this front as well having only 320MB of internal memory compared to 16/32GB of space in SII. The storage can be extended up to 32GB by SD card in both the phones.

Price in India:
Sony Xperia Arc Price in India is Rs.28,000 (Buy Here)
Samsung Galaxy SII is expected in India by 2nd week of May at Rs.32,000

There are areas in which Arc seems to excel but Samsung Galaxy SII excels virtually on all the fronts. Arc has an excellent display and a fine camera with a lot of features but he lack of dual core processor and enough internal storage is the most disappointing aspect.
