It features a 1 GHz TI OMAP 3620 processor and runs the latest Android 2.3(Gingerbread) OS.

Camera:
It comes with a 5MP camera with auto focus and LED flash. The maximum image resolution that it can capture is 2592х1944 pixels. The video recording capability is 30fps. It also features the image stabilization and geo-tagging features.

Storage capacity:
It has an in internal storage capacity of 2GB with 512MB of RAM and 1GB ROM. The memory card support allows for memory extension up to 32GB like the most smart phones of today.

Connectivity:
It comes with 3G and EDGE support, features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA and Wi-Fi hotspot. The Bluetooth version is 2.1 with A2DP and EDR. It has the micro USB 2.0 and HS.

Our Opinion:
Motorola Defy Plus launch date and price in India is yet to be announced. However, if it comes to India it should come with a price of tag of Rs.22,000 to 24,000. With the adverse weather conditions handling capacity and impressive hardware, Motorola Defy Plus can be good buy in that price range. However, if it is priced above 24,000, then it will lose to the kinds of Galaxy S2 , Optimus 2X and HTC Sensation.

Samsung Galaxy Y Mid Range Android Mobile

Samsung Mobiles have announced four new warriors for their army of droids in an attempt to take over the already heated up smartphone market in India. The latest Samsung Galaxy Y, Galaxy Y Pro, Galaxy W and Galaxy M Pro add to the already well known and super successful Samsung Galaxy series. These smart phones from Samsung are low end to mid end devices but still promises to deliver the performance with efficient designs. The main competitor of these smartphones will be Blackberry with its low end Curve smart phones. Here we take a look at Samsung Galaxy Y, the budget friendly and generation Y targeted smart phone.

Specially designed with focus on generation Y, symbolized with the letter Y, Galaxy Y is not the most powerful mobile from Samsung but it still has a lot to offer for those looking to test out the Android OS keeping the budget friendly and not only that it will also be directly competing with BlackBerry’s new Curve range of smart phones.

Here are the important features are specifications of this smart phone.

Display:
For a budget friendly smart phone one can’t expect the phone to be featuring the latest LCD panels but the TFT capacitive touchscreen of Samsung Galaxy Y does a fairly good job. The screen size is 3.0 inches with resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. It features the TouchWiz UI and the display is sharp and responsive.

Size and Design:
The touchscreen phone has the simplest of designs. It is not the thinnest but still light enough. It has a depth of 11.5mm and weighs only 97.5 g.

Camera:
It features a 2MP camera with maximum image resolution of 1600x1200 pixels. The video recording capability is QVGA with resolution of 320x240 pixels at 15fps. Other camera features include smile detection and geo-tagging.

Processor and OS:
The processing power is 833 MHz and runs the Android 2.3 Ginger bread OS.

Connectivity:
The phone offers decent connectivity features having Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, HS, Wi-Fi and micro USB 2.0

Storage Capacity:
It has 160MB of internal memory and supports micro SD card up to 32GB for memory extension.

Other Features:
Other features include the A-GPS support, quick office document viewer, Google Maps and Youtube, Picasa, and Google talk integration and FM radio.

Our Views on Samsung Galaxy Y:
It is definitely a Mid Range Android smartphone targeted to the youth, to the college goers. Samsung Galaxy Y should be priced under Rs.10,000 and it will hit the right chord if it is available at a price around 7,000. It will also be the cheapest Android 2.3 mobile. However, not worth buying over 7-8k.

Karbonn A1 Budget Android Mobile in India

Karbonn Mobiles India have launched their latest Android mobile, Karbonn A1 in India. Indian mobile market is continuously flooded with Android smartphones. Following the mobile majors like Samsung, HTC and LG; now low cost mobile manufacturers like Micromax, Spice and Karbonn have also ventured into low cost android smartphones in India. The latest Karbonn A1 comes with Android 2.2 operating system, touchscreen, 3.2 MP Camera, 3G connectivity and Wi-Fi. Karbonn A1 price in India is Rs.6,000

Display:
It features a 2.8 inch QVGA resistive touchscreen. Most of the latest smart phones are featuring the capacitive touchscreen being more responsive and crisp. With a resistive touchscreen in Karbonn A1 with a stylus you better be ready for pressing the icon multiple times before the display finally recognizes your tap.

Camera:
It comes with a 3.2 mega pixel camera. The camera performance is quiet satisfactory under bright conditions but as soon as the conditions starts to get a bit darker the camera performance is greatly affected. The maximum video recording resolution is 320 x 240 pixels.

Processor and OS:
It features a 600MHz processor and 162 MB of RAM which is very much the basic requirement for running the Android 2.2 OS, so you really can’t expect the phone to do you wonders.

Storage Capacity:
A1 comes with an internal memory of 150MB and the external memory can be increased up to 32GB via SD memory card. A 2GB card is already included in the pack.

Connectivity:
We saw most of the budget phones lacking the 3G support but Karbonn A1 does have 3G connectivity. It also features Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity with micro USB 2.0

Battery:
It has a standard Li-ion 1100mAH battery that is capable of providing up to 20hrs of battery time while doing different tasks once fully charged.

Due to its resistive touchscreen you would hardly be inspired to buy it if you are looking for a lot of browsing and playing but it is quiet bright in the battery department and provides up to 20hrs of battery time doing multiple tasks in a single charge. It would be a good choice if you are looking to buy a budget phone without really caring about the OS it runs but you would rather be disappointed if you are buying it purely to experience the Android.

Features and Specs of Beetel MagiQ:

The Beetel magic does not only have a packet portable design but also an amazing low price of Rs.9,999 something that other tablets launched so far have not been able to offer. This may be the beginning of a new era in the Indian tablet market and already an alarming sign for other tablet manufactures and communication companies.

Few days back we reported about reliance communication launching the 3G Android tablet Reliance 3G Tab in India. Now, India’s largest telecom company Bharti Airtel following the footsteps has decided to launch their Android tablet. These budget Android tabs will not only be a good addition to the growing Android tablet market in India but will also help these companies to get customers for their data plans.

This is a very common practice with cell phones especially in western countries but to have the money saving data plans with budget tablets sounds an attractive deal and more companies are expected to follow the same trend. According to the telecom regulatory authority of India there are currently 852 million mobile subscribers in the country. The low priced tablets will certainly be appealing to the middle class and low class customers of India and with the competition getting tougher the priced are expected to be even lowered.

Huawei Ideos X5 is powered by Android 2.2 operating system and features a 5MP Camera, 3G Connnectivity, Wi-Fi and a Capacitive touchscreen. Ideos X5 lacks is terms of video calling and the most disappointing news is the price of this phone. Huawei Ideos X5 is priced at Rs.14,500 in India, which is really a high price considering the other android smartphone brands and handsets available in India. The pricing would really impact the market of this phone and It could have been well suited in the 10,000 bracket rather than Rs.15,000 bracket.

Size and Looks:

Ideos X5 can be rated as something of a plastic fantastic mess. The body is made up of soft touch plastic with round edges giving you a pleasure able feeling when held. The phone is 120mm in length, 62mm in width and 11.6 mm when it comes to thickness. It weighs 130g.

Display:
Ideos X5 features a giant 3.8 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and 16M color support. The LCD display is definitely an upgrade compared to the other smart phones around the same price range. It also has features such as accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate, Multi-touch input method, Proximity sensor for auto turn-off, Fingerprint-resistant surface and capacitive Touch-sensitive controls which at times are a little annoying, not functioning when tapped.

Processor and OS:

LG Optimus Pad Tablet in India Soon

After months of rumors LG has finally released the LG Optimus Pad rebadged as T-mobile G slate in the United States. There were also rumors about the tablet featuring 3D video capture together with a Glass free 3D display but they all indeed turned out to be nothing more than rumors. What’s true is that we have a Tablet powered by a Tegra 2 Processor and a 5MP front facing camera 3D capture but the display is not 3D by any means.  LG ptimus Pad is expected to hit Indian markets by October 2011

Size and Looks:
LG Optimus is only an 8.9 inch tablet smaller than the potential competitors Motorola Xoom and Samsung galaxy tab. LG claims that the tablet can be comfortably held in one hand but that may not be as comfortable because it is fairly heavy, weighing 630g even heavier than the much larger Apple iPad. but the idea is really to give the users a portable device with a bigger enough screen to watch movies on. As far as the looks are concerned it really lacks the wow factor as some of the other tablets around. It also doesn’t have the premium feel like that of iPad, infect feels more plastic rather than solid.

Screen:
The Optimus screen is quiet sharp and crisp. The resolution is high enough for a 8.9 inch tablet to give a nice and refined visual experience. The Motion is very responsive. The display however is not bright enough and suffers in direct sunlight but quiet efficient indoors and offers pleasurable viewing experience.

Camera:
Optimus features a Dual 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash and resolution of capturing resolution of 2560х1920 pixels. It supports stereoscopic photos & videos and geo-tagging as well. It is able to record 1080p 2D video at 24fps and captures 3D 720p video at 30fps. It also features a 2Mp front camera.

Processor And OS:
LG Optimus Pad features a dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 proccessor powered by ULP GeForce GPU on a Tegra 2 T20 chipset. The processor runs Android 3.0 (Honeycom) processor.
Storage Capacity:
Optimus Tab offers a huge 32GB of internal storage capacity but does not have a card slot for memory expansion.

Final Verdict:
Optimus Pad offers an extremely potable design and decent enough display; it is going to be a tough competitor for Motorola Xoom and Samsung Tab but probably not the iPad.
